Workshop Overview

This workshop recognizes that individuals within the helping profession also need support due to the very nature of their work. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the “occupational hazard” in the helping profession, and deepen their understanding of Primary and Secondary Trauma/Wounding. By completing this program participants will learn about post-traumatic growth/vicarious resilience, resulting in a workplace “recovery environment” for both staff and clients.

Learning Objectives

• Recognize hostile situations, and customer or client issues.
• Use communication zones.
• Understand rapport building techniques and the role of positive communication.
• Control your own communications and stress responses to hostile customers and clients.
